A major strength of APRTC's approach lies in its partnership
arrangements with a wide range of organizations and institutions
- public, private, NGO, academic and development. We firmly believe
that the way forward for agriculture involves forging alliances
comprised of a spectrum of partners and drawing on their diverse
perspectives and unique advantages, practices and strengths. Our
current list of official partners includes the organizations listed
on this page and we are actively pursuing others. We also support
the efforts of a number of other "friends" with whom

CropLife International. A global network representing
the plant science industry. This industry is committed to promoting
sustainable agriculture which it considers fundamental to food
production and poverty alleviation. CropLife International makes
direct and indirect contributions in support of APRTC's core activities
and has committed to providing scholarship funding. More information

CropLife Asia. Providing regional leadership and representation
for the plant science industry. Promotes and supports the responsible
use of crop production technologies in the Asia-Pacific region.
CropLife Asia is also a main contributor to the Centre's operating
budget and is a major link to individual companies operating in

Worldview International Foundation (WIF). WIF is an international
NGO with hands-on experience and knowledge covering the entire
gamut of communication and media activities for development. WIF
has collaborated with a number of UN, Multi-lateral and Bi-lateral
agencies. It enjoys consultative status with the Economic and
Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC). WIF provides a
major link to agricultural development NGO's working in the Asia-Pacific
region and is a guiding force in setting APRTC's priorities and

Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU). TNAU is one
of the most prestigious and respected agricultural universities
in India. It is active in formal agricultural education and has
a strong research mandate in agricultural and related sciences.
It also endeavors to extend agricultural knowledge to rural inhabitants
in India and elsewhere and has a vigorous extension program with
a vision to exploit ICTs to improve its outreach activities. TNAU
is a major source of both students and expert course facilitators.

University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore (UAS-B).
UAS-B has a well-deserved reputation for its commitment to teaching,
research and extension education in agricultural sciences. A major
strength of its approach lies in its ability to integrate these
functions to bring about desired interaction for sustained development

Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture & Technology
(GBPUAT). GBPUAT has been recognized as the first university
in India to blend technology with agriculture. It has been eulogized
by Nobel Laureate Dr. Norman E. Borlaug as the 'harbinger of the
Green Revolution' in India and judged the best State Agricultural

International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC). IFDC
is a public, nonprofit, international organization dedicated to
conduct its work independently and on a scientifically sound basis.
The center's goal is increasing agricultural productivity in a
sustainable manner through the development and transfer of effective,
environmentally sound plant nutrient technology and agricultural
marketing expertise. The Center has conducted technology transfer
activities in more than 120 countries and contributed to the development
of human resources and institutional capacity building in 150
countries through more than 600 training programs. More information

ITC's e-Choupal Initiative. Combining a broad set of online
resources and a network of around one thousand kiosks, this private
initiative of ITC Ltd. reaches rural farmers in about 6,000 Indian
villages. e-Choupal offers realtime agribusiness information,
products and services to rural farmers seeking to become more
competitive and to have better access to domestic and international
market opportunities. Farmers can access the latest local and
global information on weather, scientific farming practices as
well as market prices at the village itself through this web portal.
e-Choupal also facilitates supply of high quality farm inputs
as well as purchase of commodities at farmers' doorsteps. More

Affiliation in Regional Networks
In addition to institutional partnerships, APRTC is also an active
member in regional research and development consortia.
Asia-Pacific Advanced Network (APAN). APAN is a non-profit
international consortium intended to be a high-performance network
for research and development on advanced computer networking applications
and services. Through affiliation in APAN, APRTC has access to
a regional network of IT professionals as well as to advanced
networking and Web hosting services provided by the Japanese Ministry
of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Information Network (MAFFIN).

IT for Agriculture Forum. This Forum was established to
foster the development of a more efficient mechanism to disseminate
and share agricultural information and technology in Thailand
and the Asia-Pacific region. Forum members work towards reaching
resource-poor farmers and establishing mutual links between the
various organizations under MOAC and IT for Agriculture Forum
members in information technology and agriculture risk assessment.
The primary goal is to set up a non-commercial information and
agricultural technology transfer system that contributes to productive
and sustainable farming. In addition to APRTC, the other members
of the Forum are:
